Annotations and layers

Annotations and visualization layers have separate persistence contracts. The project and annotation guide describes project namespaces, slide identity, and saved ROI data. Overlay guides describe generated points, polygons, and raster layers. The Python SDK uses the same sidecar formats and supports layer APIs for local analysis.
